New Westminster was founded in 1858 as the capital of the Colony of British Columbia and became the first city in the province to incorporate. Today it is one of the most compact places in the country: 78,916 people at the 2021 Census, making it the second-densest municipality in Canada after Vancouver. Its businesses sit in a handful of distinct districts, each with its own rhythm: the storefronts and upstairs offices of Downtown and Columbia Street, the shops and services around Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue in Uptown, the hospital-centred streets of Sapperton, and the industrial and distribution buildings of Queensborough on Lulu Island.
Health care is the city's largest employment sector, and Royal Columbian Hospital in Sapperton opened its new Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower in May 2026. Around the hospital and throughout the city there are clinics, therapists, care agencies and specialists; health care and social assistance make up close to one in five New West business licences. Small practices like these handle sensitive personal information every day, so their IT needs to be locked down properly: managed laptops, multi-factor sign-in, secure email, access limited to the people who need it, and backups that have actually been restored in a test.
Most New West businesses are small. A recent economic review for the city counted more than 9,700 businesses, and nearly three quarters of them have no employees on payroll. Office space leans toward heritage buildings and mid-size units rather than big corporate towers, and Douglas College and the Justice Institute of BC keep a steady supply of trained people in the city. For a law office, accountant, clinic or contractor of three to thirty people, the right fit is a reachable help desk, one consistent Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace setup for everyone, and someone who keeps track of licences, devices and renewals.
Getting around is easy here. Five Expo Line SkyTrain stations serve the city (New Westminster, Columbia, Sapperton, Braid and 22nd Street), and at the 2021 Census about 11,460 residents worked from home. Teams that move between the office, home and client sites need secure remote access that just works, so we put real effort into sign-in, device management and shared files that follow staff from one place to the next. Across the river in Queensborough, warehouses and yards along Derwent Way have different needs: Wi-Fi that reaches the far end of the building, scanners and printers that stay connected, and an ERP such as Odoo to keep stock and orders straight.
We are clear about how we cover New Westminster. Everyday issues are fixed remotely by someone who already knows your setup, usually the same day. Hands-on work, such as moving into a new unit, changing the network or replacing hardware, is booked as a scheduled visit, and we come in from Mission along the Lougheed Highway through Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
