Port Coquitlam grew up around the railway. The Canadian Pacific yard in the middle of the city is still one of its major employers, alongside School District 43, Sysco, Lilydale and the City itself. Today the community is home to more than 61,000 people and over 4,600 licensed businesses, and a lot of that work happens in light industrial units rather than office towers.
Most of those units sit in a few pockets: the Mary Hill Business Park and Broadway Street just off the Mary Hill Bypass, the Kingsway Avenue strip near the West Coast Express station, and the newer buildings of the Dominion Triangle around Fremont Village. Metal fabricators, contractors, distributors and service companies often run a mezzanine office above a warehouse or shop floor, so the IT has to work on both levels: Wi-Fi that reaches past the racking, shared computers that cope with a dusty bench, and a network that keeps the office apart from cameras and equipment.
Downtown is a different picture. The historic blocks of Shaughnessy Street around City Hall hold dental offices, banks, coffee shops, professional services and independent stores, where the priorities are client records, email that cannot easily be spoofed, and backups that are actually tested. Out in the Dominion Triangle, retailers and tenants in new buildings need tills, guest Wi-Fi and staff accounts working properly from the first day they open.
Port Coquitlam is the only Tri-Cities municipality without SkyTrain, so many people drive the Lougheed Highway or ride the West Coast Express from Port Coquitlam station or Coquitlam Central. Owners and staff often split the week between a job site, a client downtown and home. We set up secure sign-in, managed laptops and phones, and remote access so the same files and the same protection follow people wherever they work that day.
Here is how coverage works. Port Coquitlam is part of our on-site area. Everyday problems are fixed remotely, usually the same day, by someone who already knows your setup. Hands-on work such as moving into a new unit, changing the network or replacing hardware is booked as a scheduled visit, and we come in from Mission through Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
